Alan Barinholtz received his law degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1980 and is a graduate of The Ohio State University. Mr. Barinholtz practices in the area of litigation.  Mr. Barinholtz gained experience in the general practice of law as an associate at a general practice firm during his first two years in practice.  Thereafter, Mr. Barinholtz entered into a partnership where his practice was limited to personal injury, including the representation of Carriers of Iowa and U-Haul and various owners and operators within the trucking industry.  Since the formation of the Law Offices of Alan Barinholtz, P.C., Mr. Barinholtz has continued his emphasis in matters of litigation.  His experience has been equally divided between the plaintiff and defense bar in matters concerning litigation and he has been the lead attorney in cases involving personal injury, including special areas of product liability and medical malpractice.  He also represents individuals and corporations in actions concerning professional malpractice, contract disputes, civil rights and class action suits.  Mr. Barinholtz has extensive motion and trial practice before the Circuit Court of Cook County, the Federal Trial Bar, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the American Arbitration Association.  He has also appeared before the Illinois Appellate Court. Licensed in Ohio since 2010, Mr. Barinholtz has also appeared before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. In 2013, he tried a case in the Federal District Court of Northern Illinois, Eastern District to a $3 million plus verdict. Mr. Barinholtz has been an arbitrator for AAA for over 25 years, as well as acting as a hearing officer in Cook County Mandatory Arbitration and typically as a neutral in three member panel arbitrations.

Mr. Barinholtz has enjoyed an AV Rating with Martindale Hubbell for over the last 15 plus years.

Mr. Barinholtz is a member of both the Illinois and Ohio Bar, the Federal Trial Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.  He is a former member of the Chicago Transit Authority Ethics Committee.  Mr. Barinholtz has received honors from the National Trial Competition and the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a frequent lecturer in the area of personal injury law.
