Dennis M. Whalen

Dennis M. Whalen, a native of Akron, Ohio and graduate of the College of Law, the University of Akron, has practiced law in Ohio since 1966. He was admitted to practice in the State of Ohio (1966) and various Federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, and is also licensed to practice law in the State of Florida.

Denny was the founder of Whalen & Compton, Co., L.P.A.. Denny has been recognized by his peers with an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell.

Professional activities include service as President of the Out-of-State Practitioners Division of The Florida Bar (1993-1994). Denny also served two terms on the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar (1999-2003).

Denny was a charter member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys (affiliated with the Ohio School Boards Association). He served as the Council’s second chairman in 1978.

Denny has presented speeches at the National School Boards Association on IDEA, at the Association of Christian Schools International on "peacemaking", and at the Ohio School Board Association Capitol Conference on several topics regarding legal issues facing school districts.

Denny's major practice area has been Education Law. He is a member of the Education Law Committees of both the Ohio State Bar Association and The Florida Bar. He continues to serve public and private schools in Ohio and Florida.

Married for nearly 30 years to Linda Pierce Whalen, Denny has four grown children and nine precious grandchildren.
